Woke up pretty early today, had some breakfast. I did my usual daily routine of job searching, as usual I found myself browsing over the same countless jobs I had applied to and got rejected from before. I ended up applying for some jobs I'm probably not even qualified for, either way I know I won't get anything back. I don't care what government statistics say, we are still in a recession and jobs are about as common as a 5 year old with manners.
What did take my eye was the local and national news. apparently birds had started falling out of the sky for no obvious reason and scientists had no logical explanation. Apparently this had been happening all over the world in the last few months. Climate change and toxins in the air were being blamed, however nobody had any real proof. I remember one part of the news report included an interview with some professor at Cambridge university. He explained they had taken some of the birds in for testing and there was some abnormality with the blood. He said that until comprehensive test results came back we can't rule out a new strain of bird flu. That's all we need, another animal bug that's going to send the media into a frenzy of scare mongery and telling us that we are all going to get ill unless we all stock up on Tamiflu.
